Box Boot Camp

May 12, 19 & 26

3 Consecutive Saturdays, 6 Hours Total

Thunderbird Paseo & Montara Park

Box Lacrosse requires players to play fast, scooping up ground balls through intense traffic, superior stick protection, accurate shooting and excellent teamwork.

Drills will focus on;

Perfecting your dominant hand - No switching hands in the tight confines of indoor . . .

Increasing accuracy - Players have 36 sq ft of goal in field lacrosse but only 16 sq ft indoors - Most of which is covered by the goalie. Picking corners is the only way to score . . .

Stick protection - No space to hang your stick indoors . . .

Coming out of the scrum with the GB - Field players are taught "kiss the stick" or "bring it to your head". Canadians grab the loosies off the ground . . .

More; The players will learn individual and team concepts essential to success in the indoor game - Shooting techniques: Underhand, overhand, backhand, sidearm, break away and screen shots, quick sticks and inside rolling shots. Introduction to the alley system, up screen, back screen, slip screen, and down screen . . .

Limited to 20 players only in the 6U, JHS and HS Divisions

U15 Team at the 2012 Jam by the Sea
posted 04/09/2012

The Glendale Vipers U15 team competed in the Jam by the Sea tournament this past weekend finishing 1-3 against 3 all star teams; 2  from San Diego (Adrenaline’s Carmel Valley Falcons and the tournament squad Ball So Hard) and Southern California’s SoCal NEGU.

The Vipers scored a total of 20 goals and let in 19, beating the Falcons 7-1, and losing to SoCal twice (4-6 and 3-4 respective) and Ball So Hard 6-8.

Each game the Vipers improved our turnover ratio from a 60% negative to begin the tournament, to a 10% positive the last game.

Standout performances from Tyler Chleborad (9G, 2A, 9GB), Matt Puccio (3G, 3A, 6GB), Luke Liljenstolpe (4G, 2A, 12GB) and Vinnie Giacoppo (1G, 1A, 30GB).

Overall we were in every game, but most importantly we had a blast together as a team and we look forward to the Tinseltown Showdown in LA, July 7th and 8th.
